Studio Liddell

Silentnight is a market leader in bed manufacturing and retailing brand with two well known brand mascots, Hippo and Duck. The characters were looking a bit tired and as such were not being exploited to their full potential across marketing and advertising applications. Silentnight approached us to develop the characters from a traditional 2D drawn style into more contemporary and versatile 3D assets. By doing so we were able to inject more life and character into the unlikely pair.

The challenge was creating a 3D form that was sympathetic to the previous 2D drawn versions, we were particularly careful to retain the personality and charm of the original duo. Creating CG assets allowed us to place the characters in more interesting and entertaining situations bringing them to life with animation across web, point of sale and TV commercial applications.
